ST. ANSGAR, IA -- Delores Hoffman, 80, of St. Ansgar died on Sunday, October 15, 2006 at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Hospice Unit, Osage. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, 1 p.m., at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville, Iowa with Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.
Delores was born October 31, 1925 on a farm in Mitchell County, daughter of August and Helen Feldt. She was baptized in St. Ansgar, confirmed in Osage, graduated from Osage High School and attended Iowa State Teachers college in Cedar Falls. She was a rural school teacher at Rock No. 5.
She was united in marriage to Merle Hoffman on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 1945 in Osage, Iowa. They made their home on a dairy farm east of Toeterville. They were lifetime members of St. Peter Lutheran Church where Delores was active in Circle and other church activities. She enjoyed making crafts, quilting, and spending time with family.
They were parents of Larry (Sue) Hoffman of Toeterville, Diane (Dean) Steffen of Orchard, Dennis Hoffman of St. Ansgar, LuAnn (James) Downs of St. Charles, Iowa, Lori Sweetland of Toeterville and Karyl O'Connor of Holiday, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Rachelle Hoffman, Renae (Dan) Northrop, Gary (Verna) Steffen, Jerry (Karen) Steffen, Kyle Sweetland, Josh Sweetland, Nicholas Sweetland, Patrick O'Connor, Joey O'Connor, and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother Eugene, three sisters Arlene Smith, Norma Jean Miller and Doris Glassel.
