Arnold T. Slinde Funeral Held at Six Mile Grove

Funeral services for Arnold T. Slinde, 89, rural Lyle, who died at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital, Osage, October 29, were held November 2 at the Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gaylord Grant officiating.

Arnold T. Slinde was born August 6, 1890 in Waukon, the son of Thomas and Anna (Severson) Slinde. He farmed in the Adams and Lyle areas and then was in the garage business in Verndale, Minn. He moved back to Adams in 1927 when he bought a threshing machine, then moved south of Rose Creek, Minn. and in 1939 bought the present home site in Lyle where he had an apiary for many years. He had lived there until the summer of 1979 when he became a resident of the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center.

Mr. Slinde married Bertha Anderson October 1, 1913 in Adams. He was a farmer, thresher, lumber sawyer and in late years repaired steam engines for Ed and Ray Smolik of rural Osage. He was a member of Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church and Antique Acres Steam Engine club of Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by his son, Algie, his parents, four sisters, three brothers, two grandsons, and two great-grandsons.

Mr. Slinde is survived by three sons, Arthur and Donald of Lyle and Virgil Sr. of Rose Creek; also one sister, Mrs. Emma Halls of Omaha, Neb.; two brothers, Selmer Slinde of Austin, Minn. and Theodore Slinde of Brownsdale, Minn.; many grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Burial was in the Six Mile Grove cemetery with Rev. Grant in charge of committal services.
