Funeral services for La Mar Emerson, age 66, of Little Cedar, Iowa, were held at on Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage, Iowa, with Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial was at the Little Cedar Cemetery in Little Cedar. La Mar passed away Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, as the result of a battle with cancer.
La Mar was born Sept. 17, 1939, at Osage, Iowa, the son of Clell and Sara (Jensen) Emerson. He graduated from Little Cedar High School in 1959, and then attended the Reisch College of Auctioneering in Mason City. On Dec. 26, 1960, La Mar married Helen Thompson at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage. He farmed and was employed as a truck driver by L.R. Falk Construction, Heartland Asphalt, and Carlson Construction. La Mar enjoyed raising Black Angus cattle, ice fishing, and telling stories.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
La Mar is survived by his wife, Helen Emerson of Little Cedar; three sons, Keith Emerson of Little Cedar; Kirk Emerson and his wife Lisa of Osage, and their children Sara, Amy, and Alex; and Ken Emerson and his wife Diane of Osage, and their son Derik.
