Obituary

Mrs Kate (Kenney) Danforth, one of the best known and actively good women of Lincoln Township, was buried in Osage cemetery last Sunday.

She was born August 25, 1861, in Farmington, Wisconsin, received a liberal education and on April 7, 1879, was united in marriage to Asa Danforth, who survives her. Their home life has been gladdened by the presence of five children who now mourn the long absence of a loving mother.

About eight years ago, while a member of the Roman Catholic communion Mrs. Danforth was converted to the Protestant faith, and joined the Free Baptist church of Boltonville, Wisconsin. The attractions of relatives and better conditions led Mr. and Mrs. Danforth to move to Iowa five years since, where they purchased a farm and settled down to a happy life in Lincoln, this county.

On returning from a visit to the old Wisconsin homestead last year she was taken ill and ever since has been afflicted with lung trouble.

Thursday last she visited Orchard and the following day, April 13, as the sunset gun was sounding she quietly laid down life's duties and entered into eternity's delights. A very large attendance at the funeral services on Sunday last, testified to the sympathy and esteen of the community for the living and the dead. Rev. Lloyd Evans of Wheeler, assisted by Rev. M. Deets conducted the exercises.

The deceased lady was closely identitifed with the best people and efforts socially and religiously of her neighborhood. Till two weeks of her death she was successful and beloved superintendent of the Sabbath school. Firm in faith, devoted to her God and her family, refined, pure, consistent in her character and conservation she was a graceful yet strong pillar in church and society. Her breaved husband and children rise up and called her blessed and all declare " A mother in Israel, a truly good woman has been taken from us." Let us follow her in unfaltering faith, in unclouded content and cheer, and in scattering blessing around the choice circle we are privileged to call our own.
