Armond A. Borchardt, age 79, of Joplin, Missouri passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at his home. Funeral services were held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Joplin on August 1, 2006 with interment at Veteran's National Cemetery Fort Scott, Kansas.

Armond was born on a farm near St. Ansgar, Iowa to Frank J. and Anna Borchardt on February 4, 1927. The family moved to a farm northeast of Osage, Iowa in the fall of his first year. Armond was baptized in the Christian faith at three months of age, and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage on April 6, 1941. He attended a rural school and helped with the farm work until he enlisted in the service of his country, serving in various places in Texas and Miss. for 46 months. After his discharge from the military he attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa and transferred to Iowa State Teachers College where he earned his Masters Degree in Education.

He taught in several high schools and a college in Iowa and continued his education for certification as school counselor. He also worked as a dispatcher of trucks in interstate commerce.

On June 6, 1953, he married Marian Mueller of Paulina, Iowa. He is survived by his loving wife, Marian, and his four children, Alan and wife Bonnie of Phoenix, Ariz., Mark and wife Cheri of Lorena, Texas; Scott of Concordia, Missouri, Anne Emily and husband Ed Boron of Romeoville, Illinois.

He is also survived by five grandchildren, Greg, Jeff, and Alicia Borchardt and Scott and Katherine Boron. Additional survivors are his brothers, Raymond of Mason City, and Leland of St. Ansgar. his sister, Ruby Borlaug of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and numerous other relatives and friends.
