Funeral services for Sterling D. Sewright, 83, of Osage, were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday July 28, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Osage, with Rev. Douglas Brown officiating. Burial was in the Osage Cemetery. Sterling died Friday, July 21, 2006, at his home in Osage.

Sterling was born May 6, 1923, near Orchard, the son of Leon and Trulie (Erbe) Sewright. He graduated from Orchard High School. Sterling was united in marriage to Berdene Williams on July 23, 1947, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They farmed near the New Haven area until 1964, when they moved to Osage. He was a cross country truck driver with Boss lines and CRST. In his retirement years he enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling. Sterling and Berdene wintered many years in Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife Berdene in 2001.

Sterling is survived by four children: Gloria Sewright of Austin, Minn.; Lowell (Annette) Sewright of Salem, S.D.; Janan (Jon) Skillingstad of Fergus Falls, Minn.; Kent (Jan) Sewright of Des Moines; nine grandchildren, Jaya DeVries, Arianna and Paige Sewright; Hannes, Ansty, Brinna and Joren Skillingstad; Amy and Kyle Sewright; and two great-grandchildren, Shealynn DeVries and Keizha Blase
