Funeral services for Mrs. Arminda "Emma" Borchert, who died May 26, 1983 at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, were held May 28 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton, Iowa, with the Rev. Gary Panko officiating.

Arminda Rappath was born August 30, 1886 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William and Emelia (Lang) Rappath. She was baptized on November 16, 1886 in the Lutheran faith by the Rev. John Hacker. When she was about three years of age, the family moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where they lived for two years before coming to Iowa. They lived in the Grafton vicinity and in Rock township, Mitchell County. She was confirmed April 18, 1900 in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton, by the Rev. John Landdeck. When she was 17 years of age, Arminda moved with her family to Belgrade, Minnesota where she lived for several years.

On December 11, 1910 she married George A. Borchert of Grafton in Belgrade, Minnesota. They lived on the Borchert farm east of Grafton until December 1975 when she entered a nursing home.

Mrs. Borchert was preceded in death by her husband, by her parents, by two brothers: Herman (Harry), and William Rappath; by four sisters: Mrs. Lena Pagel, Mrs. Kate Hasse, Mrs. Elizabeth Bozak and Mrs. Matie Walk; also by one grandson and one great-grandson.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Pearl) White of Grafton and Mrs. Ruby Krueger of Prescott, Arizona; two sons, Warren and Allen of Grafton; eight grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Burial was in the Grafton cemetery.
