ST. ANSGAR WOMAN DIES OF SHOCK DURING FARM BLAZE

AMELIA THORSON HAD LIVED ON ONE PLACE 60 YEARS - MACHINE SHED, CORN CRIB AND CONTENTS OF BOTH ARE LOST IN FIRE

Mrs. Amelia Thorson, 76, died suddenly of shock about 8 a.m. Saturday when she looked out of the window of her farm home near here and saw a machine shed on fire.

She had suffered from a heart ailment for several years. Mrs. Thorson had lived on the same farm, operated by her son, Hubert, for 60 years.

The machine shed was set afire by the backfiring of a tractor and was destroyed, along with considerable farm machinery. Flames ignited and destroyed a corn crib containing a sizeable amount of grain. Town and rural fire trucks of St. Ansgar, Iowa responded and prevented the fire from spreading to other buildings.

Mrs. Thorson is the former Amelia Moe, member of a widely known family of the St. Ansgar community. Her husband died a few years ago.

Surviving are five sons: Roy of Squaw Lake, Minnesota; Clifford, Leon, Donald and Hubert, all of the St. Ansgar vicinity and three daughters: Rose Thorson, Kansas City, Missouri.; Mrs. Otto Tesch, St. Ansgar, and Alma Thorson, Northwood, Iowa.
