Services for John Baldner, 73, Held Saturday P.M. - September 1937:

Funeral services were conducted for John Baldner, age 73, last Saturday afternoon at Immanuel Lutheran with interment in the church cemetery.

John Baldner was born January 26, 1862, at Mendota, Illinois where he was also baptized. When he was three years of age, his parents settled on a farm near Adams, Minnesota. On April 14, 1878, he was confirmed by Rev. J. Landgrebe at Toeterville, Iowa.

On November 5, 1885, he was married to Dora Kuehl. To this union six children were born, all but one of whom survive him. A daughter died in infancy.

Immediately after their marriage, Mr. & Mrs. Baldner occupied a farm one mile north of St. Ansgar, IA. In 1887 they moved to the Baldner homestead in Minnesota where they resided for 2 years. Later they purchased a farm of their own in that state where they lived until they retired from active farming in 1915 and moved to St. Ansgar, IA. Mr. & Mrs. Baldner celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary Nov. 5, 1935.

Although Mr. Baldner had been in failing health for some time, his condition did not become serious until about 10 weeks ago when he was admitted to the hospital at Rochester, MN. Death came Wednesday morning September 1st.

He is survived by his wife; four sons and one daughter; 9 grandchildren, 3 brothers and one sister. The children are Earl of Sioux Falls, SD; Arnold of Osage; George and Lawrence of Creston, IA. and Mrs. Paul Daher of Creston, IA.
