Funeral Held Here
November 10

Funeral services for Mrs. Laura C. Weigand, 91, who died at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center November 8, 1983, were held November 10 at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home here with the Rev. Gaylord Grant of Lyle officiating.

Laura Carrie Weigand was born December 22, 1891 on the family farm, daughter of Louis and Catharine Meyer, in York township, Du Page County, Illinois. She attended rural school until the fifth grade and then rode the train to attend classes in Wheaton, Illinois. She graduated from Wheaton high school and attended Wheaton College during summers to earn her teaching certificate.

She taught in rural schools until her marriage to Ferdinand Weigand Augst 5, 1919 in Lombard, Illinois. They established their home in Elmhurst, Illinois where they resided until 1929. At that time they moved to Lombard, Illinois where Mrs. Weigand lived as long as her health permitted. She had been a resident of the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center here the past 14 years.

Mrs. Weigand was preceded in death by her husband, Ferdinand in 1945, her son-in-law, Calvin Williams in 1982 and six sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her son and wife, Roy and Dorothy Weigand of Lombard, Illinois, and by her daughter Carol Williams of St. Ansgar; by six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Burial was in Elmlawn cemetery, Elmhurst, Illinois, November 12, 1983.
