Died Suddenly at
Nissen HospitalGeorge W. Enfield, 75, a resident of Mitchell County for 15 years, died at Nissen Hospital in Osage at 9:45 Monday morning, after an illness of only three days. He became ill Saturday and was taken to the hospital Sunday. A hemorrhage of the stomach was the cause of his death.
Funeral services will take place at the Champion Funeral parlors in Osage at 2 o'clock this afternoon (Wednesday), the Rev. M. W. McKinley will be in charge of the rites.
A son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Enfield, George W. Enfield was born February 27, 1860, in Warren county, Ill. He came to Mitchell County about 15 years ago and settled on a farm just north of Osage. He has lived in the county ever since.
He was married to Miss Nora Young in Illinois September 4, 1881, and to this union six children were born, of whom five survive. They are: Elza, St. Ansgar, Elmer, Osage; Mrs. N. P. Newell, Shell Rock; Mrs. Floyd McIntire, Louisville, Ky. Mrs. Enfield and seven brothers and sisters also survive. The brothers are: Albert, of Fort Dodge; Will of Rudd; Tom of Marshalltown; and John of Oskaloosa. The sisters are: Mrs. Frank Graham, Linville; Mrs. Cora Wearth, Linville, and Mrs Arvie Jacobs,Newton.
Mr. and Mrs. Enfield have been living with their son, Elza, on a farm near here.
Pall bearers at the funeral will be Ray Cummings, Oliver Cummings, C. Frank, Frank Tyler, and George Schutler, all residing north of Osage, and Lloyd Swann, northeast of Osage.
