Funeral services for Viola M. Cummings, age 93, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, were held Monday, April 10, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in St. Ansgar with Rev. Jay Amundson officiating.

Viola died Friday April 7, 2006, at MCRHC-Osage Hospital in Osage. Burial was in the Osage Cemetery.

Viola was born May 24, 1912, in Osage, Iowa, to Jacob and Semina (Pederson) Jacobson. The family lived in the Osage area, and Viola was educated in Osage schools. On October 29, 1929, she married Oliver "Mike" Cummings in Osage. Mike died April 6, 1984. Viola worked at Cedar Valley Produce for 25 years, and for Carroll George, Inc. in Northwood. She lived in St. Ansgar for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Oliver "Mike" Cummings; one sister; an infant sister; three brothers; three grandsons; and one son-in-law, George Zacharda.

Viola is survived by three daughters, Phyllis (Lloyd) Schallock, New Haven, Leona Zacharda, St. Ansgar, and Patricia (Robert) Bublitz, St. Ansgar; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; two nephews in Illinois; and the staff and her many friends at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar

Arrangments were made by the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, in Osage. [641-732-3706].
