Last Will and Testament
of George Briggs

In the Name of God, Amen

I. George Briggs, of the town of Osage, in the county of Mitchell, State of Iowa,being mindfully of my mortality, and of a sound mind and memory, do make this 27th day of June in the year of One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy-one, make and publish this my last Will in the manner and form as follows, that is to say:
First. I will and devise that a lot shall be bought in the Sanquoit Cemetery situated in Oneida County, New York, to cost two hundred dollars and I be buried therein, and a mounment erected thereon to my memory to be worth and cost one thousand dollars, and the lot be fenced and fixed up in good style and to cost not less than two hundred dollars.

Second. I will and devise that all my honest debts and funeral charges by my executor appointed hereafter and named by me.

Third. I give and bequeath unto my brother, Daniel M. Briggs, One Thousand Dollars.

Fourth. I give and devise and bequeath unto my sister, Hester A. Hubbard, Six Thousand Dollars.

Fifth. I give and bequeath unto Henry H. Blackman, son of Alva and Almyra Blackman, Ten Thousand Dollars.

Sixth. I give and bequeath unto Clarles M. Blackman, son of Alymra and Alva Blackman, Ten Thousand Dollars.

Seventh. I give and bequeath unto the First Methodist Church of Sanquoit, Oneida County, New York, Five Hundred Dollars.

All of the above bequests to be paid within six months after my death, and all the rest and residue of my estate and affects, real and personal whatsoever and wheresoever the same may be, and not hereinbefore disposed in this my last will, I give and devise and bequeath unto C. M. Blackman of Wiscon., H. H.Blackman of Mitchell Co., Iowa, D.M. Briggs of Oneida County, N. Y., Hester A. Hubbard of Oneida County, N. Y., to be divided equally between the last five named persons. And I hereby do constitute Charles M. Blackman of Whitewater, Wisconsin, Executor, and Hester A. Hubbard of Oneida Co., New York, Executrix of this my last Will and Testament, and I hereby revoke all former wills by me made.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 27th day of June, 1871.
