Olaus George Moe (also known as George O or G O Moe) was born January 19, 1870 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Ole Oleson Christiansmoen (b March 11, 1831 Oppland, Norway, d November 30, 1886 Mitchell, Iowa) and Guri Olsdatter Bjoran Maafaa (b December 31, 1836 Oppland, Norway, d June 28, 1901 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa), the fifth of their eight children.

He was confirmed on June 7, 1885 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church in Meroa, Iowa.

Olaus married Olava Finsand (b February 19, 1872 Albany, Green, Wisconsin, d November 11, 1958 Mitchell, Iowa) on October 6, 1895 at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

The couple had 5 children who were all born at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
Mabel Georgine (b October 4, 1896, d December 7, 1976 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa);

Olvin Herbert (b January 31, 1898, d October 29, 1967 Osage, Iowa);

Olaus was a farmer and (in 1911), president of the Rock Creek Co Op Creamery in Meroa, Iowa. He farmed 146 acres.

Land transfers in Mitchell County, Iowa show: 1875: John R. James to Anthony R. Carter; A. R. 1893: Carter and wife to George O. Moe.
There was a log house on the property but Mr. Carter tore it down. When George bought the farmsite, there was nothing but a few straw sheds. They started with 80 acres in 1893, bought 65 acres across the road in 1914, and paid $125 an acre.

A three room house was built in 1895. The barn was built in 1903 and the carpenters were Gustav Millard Williams, Ole Tollefson, and George Moe. The present house was built in 1907 by George and Harry Haugen. In May, 1965, a tornado tore out the grove, a plum thicket, large apple orchard and small sheds.

There is a photo of the G. O. Moe family in the 1911 Mitchell County Atlas, Sec. 3, page 26.
