Former Riceville
woman writes
book for blind

RICEVILLE, IOWA — Mrs. Minnie B. Sprung, who was a Riceville resident and school teacher in and around here many years, has been sponsored by the New York Foundation for the Blind, to author the book, "Braille Book of Tests."

The work on the book came about when Mrs. Sprung asked for retirement after teaching 12 years in the Overbrook School for the Blind. At that time, the principal of the school there asked Mrs. Sprung to write such a textbook. The New York Organization then gave $2,200 toward printing the book in Braille. Orders are now coming from all parts of the United States and Canada for the text
book.

Although wishing to retire, Mrs. Sprung is finding it difficult, since she is frequently called upon for substitute work

She has just completed a seven week stretch of substituting. Her home is in Port Washington, Long Island, N. Y.
