George E. Marsh was admitted to the practice of law at Independence, Iowa, in 1876. He had studied law in the offices of Cyrus Foreman, Osage, Iowa, and Lake & Harmon, Independence, Iowa. After his admission to practice Mr. Marsh worked in Mr. Foreman's office until the fall of 1877, when he became a member of the firm of Foreman & Marsh at Cresco, Iowa. That partnership continued until 1880, at which time Mr. Marsh formed a partnership with Hon. H. T. Reed, now United States judge for the northern district of Iowa. The firm was Reed & Marsh, Cresco, Iowa. This firm continued in business until the fall of 1885, when Mr. Marsh came to Osage and became a member of the law firm of Foreman & Marsh. In July, 1887, Mr. Marsh took over all the business, and Mr. Foreman retired from a long and successful practice. Mr. Marsh has continued in the practice until the present time.
He was born February 20,, 1853, was educated in the public schools and the college at Ames, Iowa, from which he graduated in 1874.
In December, 1889, Mr. Marsh was married to Miss Maud L. Hawley. They have a beautiful home in Osage, and the respect and confidence of the people. He has held the office of county attorney, and was a delegate to the national republican convention in 1892. He has always enjoyed a good legal practice, and is regarded as an excellent advocate and counselor.
