Mills Family

GLEWWOOD, Ia. – The death of Alven Emery Dean, early Monday at his home here marks the passing of the last of the last of his generation of a prominent pioneer family in Mills County.

Mr. Dean was the youngest of four brothers whose parents came from Vermont and were one of the first families to settle in this section.

Mr. Dean was born at the farm home in Lyons Township and spent his entire life in or near Glenwood.

His wife, the late Sarah Lambert Dean died July 1, 1936.

Mr. Dean is survived by three children, all of whom were with him at the time of his death: the Rev. Fred Dean of Rochester, N. Y. ; Mrs. Lucille Lambert of Hastings, Ia., and Mrs. Wilma Stevens of Buffalo, N. Y.

He also leaves 11 grandchildren. His funeral will be held Wednesday in his home, conducted by the Rev. J. F. Stille of Emerson, and interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.
