Dan Markel, 70, Died Suddenly Sunday Night

Daniel L. Markel, 70, died suddenly at his farm home one mile south of Silver City Sunday night. He had been in usual good health and visited in his usual genial manner with guests in their home that evening but upon retiring he remarked to Mrs. Markel that he had a pain in his chest and arose going to the living room where he slumped into a chair, death being almost instantaneous.

The body was removed to the Raynor Funeral home in Glenwood and services will be held in the Silver City Methodist church at 2:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon. Rev. F.G. Barnes, of Corning, former pastor of the Silver City church will have charge of the services.

Mr. Markel who is survived by his wife, one brother Tom, was an active Mason, being a member of Silver Light Lodge No. 400, of Silver City; Mt. Gerizim Chapter No. 59, R.A.M. of Glenwood; Ivanhoe Commandery Knights Templar No. 17 at Council Bluffs and the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine of Des Moines.

Masonic services will be held at the grave in the Silver City cemetery.
