Services Held for Dallas Roach Friday

Funeral services were held for Dallas Roach in the Myers-James Funeral home Friday afternoon.

He was born near Hedrick, Ia., in February, 1852. There he grew to manhood, and later lived at Greenfield, Ia., where on Sept. 1, 1884 he was united in holy wedlock with Amanda Beber.

Soon after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Roach located in western Nebraska where Mr. Roach engaged in stock farming and for many years experienced the hardships of pioneer life.

To this union, three children were born, one of whom survives, Mrs. L.E. Edwards of Glenwood. A son, Clifford and daughter, Velma, preceded their father in death. The wife and mother passed away in 1926.

Mr. Roach is also survived by a brother, Brad Roach of Ottumwa, Ia., one grandson, Hugh Edwards of Glenwood, and a little great grandchild, Ruth Edwards.

Mr. Roach spent the major portion of the past twenty years in Los Angeles, Calif. His passing, which occurred on Thursday, Jan. 30, was within the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leonard Edwards with whom he has resided for the past year, a few days of his 89th birthday.

The funeral service was conducted by Rev. H.G. Parker of the Glenwood Methodist church. Those who served as pallbearers were Don Peugh, Marvin Doan, Jr., Charles Wright, Ben Stille, Harold Edwards and Marvin Harold.

The body was laid to rest beside the grave of his wife in the Glenwood cemetery.

Among those in attendance from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. John Decker and Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Chambers, all of Council Bluffs.
