August 24, 1942Mrs. C.W. Sherfey Passed Away Last Week
Mrs. C.W. Sherfey, 69, passed away in a hospital at Lincoln, Monday, August 17 and funeral services were held there last Thursday. Mrs. Sherfey, a former well-known school teacher, will be remembered by older residents as Florence Kiskadon, who taught in the grades and in the high school. She married Dr. C.W. Sherfey of this city and they resided for many years in Lincoln where he was a practicing physician. He was later appointed head of the soldiers' and sailors' hospital at Grand Island which position he resigned a few months ago when Mrs. Sherfey's health failed, taking her to California in hopes that the change would prove beneficial.
She did not improve however, as it had been hoped she would, and they returned to Lincoln. She suffered a fall in which she fractured her hop about 10 days prior to her death.
She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Walter E. White and one grandson, Carl W. White of Fremont.
Mrs. Sherfey was a sister-in-law of Mrs. W.H. Burres of this city and she and her daughter, Mrs. Helen Reasoner of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Harold Bentley also of that city and Mrs. Frank Deerwester of Glenwood were in attendance at the funeral services in Lincoln.
