George Thiel, an old Mills County settler, living for nearly 40 years in Deer Creek township near Strahan, died Tuesday night at Malvern at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Boyer. Brief funeral services were held on Wednesday and the body was taken to Newman Grove, Neb., for burial by the side of his wife who died last June. He was born in Germany in 1828 and came to Mills County in 1866. He returned to Malvern three weeks ago from Nebraska where he had gone in 1905. He is survived by five children, as follows: Mrs. Mary McFarland, Newman Grove, Neb., W. Thiel, Wendell, Minn., G.N. Thiel, Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Theresa Boyer, Malvern, Emery Thiel, Campbell, Minn.
