MRS. QUINTERIA C. BREEDING OBITUARY
The remains of Mrs. Candace Breeding, who died very unexpectedly Monday afternoon at the home of her sister, Dr. Amanda Shelton, were shipped to Malvern after a service by the Eastern Star ladies of Bloomfield, where services were conducted in the M. E. Church, Thursday morning, June 27th and burial was made in the Malvern Cemetery. The three surviving children were in Bloomfield to attend the service here accompanying the remains of their mother to Malvern.
Candace Lockman, daughter of Samuel D. and Elizabeth F. Lockman was born in Davis County, Iowa, November 3, 1863. February 16, 1871, she was united in marriage to Benjamin Breeding and seven children were born in this union, four of whom are dead. Those living are Guy Breeding of Malvern, Iowa, Mrs. Florence Skaggs of Oakland, Iowa, and Mrs. Mille Bond of Walnut, Iowa. Her husband died July 8, 1892 and her parents several years ago. The surviving brothers and sisters are J. W. Lockman, Wellington; William Lockman, Belknap, Iowa; Mrs. T. C. Cree, Belknap, and Dr. Amanda Shelton, Bloomfield, Iowa. Although spending most of her time among her children, relatives, and friends, her home has been at Bloomfield the past 14 years.
The remains were brought to Malvern for burial and funeral services were held from the Methodist Church conducted by Rev. R. Bruce West of the Presbyterian Church. A large number of her old friends and neighbors were present, testifying to their respect for the deceased. She had many friends in this vicinity who learned of her passing with genuine sympathy.
