Mills County Tribune
January 17, 1918

The following obituary is of a lady well known in Glenwood vicinity.

Christina Paulus was born February 5, 1833, in Preble county, O., and died December 28, 1917, in Sherrard, Ill., aged 84 years 10 months and 23 days.

She was united in marriage to Ira A. Keltner November 23, 1852., in Ufama, O. To this union four children were born and three of these preceded the mother in death.

Mr. and Mrs. Keltner came to Mills county in 1886 and the next year became residents of Glenwood and there resided until the death of Mr. Keltner.

After the death of her husband Mrs. Keltner made her home with her daughter. Mrs. S.F. Grear, of Sheridan, Ill.

While her health has been poorly for several years, still she kept about. On the morning of her death she ate her breakfast as usual. In a brief time thereafter a stroke of paralysis brought death.

The deceased became a member of the Presbyterian church at the age of 18 and strictly kept its tenets until death.

She leaves to mourn her the daughter, Mrs. S.F. Grear; a brother, Jacob Paulus; a sister, Mrs. Emma Wallace of Columbia City, Ind., and besides these seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the home of her daughter in Sherrard, Ill., and the body shipped to Glenwood. Interment was made at Martin's Chapel cemetery by the side of her husband.
