FINAL RITES FOR ARCHIBALD HUNT

Archibald Hunt, son of Lydia and William Hunt, was born Sept. 30, 1868 at Ottumwa, Iowa, and departed from this life June 23, 1947, at his home in Glenwood, Iowa.

Mr. Hunt was one of a family of seven children all of whom have preceded him in death. The spring after Mr. Hunt was born his parents moved to Glenwood and the family home was established there. In 1883 he moved to a farm three miles northwest of Tabor where he resided until 1943 when failing health made it necessary that he and Mrs. Hunt move to Glenwood and make their home with their daughter, Mrs. Daisy Bell.

On Sept. 8th, 1892, he was united in marriage to Elvira Marsella Ventis at Malvern, Iowa. To this union eight children were born, four of whom have preceded their father in death. Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife, Elvira; four daughters, Mrs. Daisy Bell of Glenwood, Iowa, Mrs. Leona Settell of Slater, Wyo., Mrs. Geneva DuVal of Tabor, Iowa, and Inez Wirth of Macedonia, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and many other close relatives and friends.

Mr. Hunt was baptized into the Methodist church Dec. 4, 1904 and had remained a faithful member until his passing. He worked hard and provided well for his family whom he loved so much. Those who are left to mourn his passing will greatly miss him, his kindly disposition, and helpful way for all whom he knew. For he was highly respected by all who knew him. And his many works of goodness and honesty will long be remembered.

Funeral services were held at Reeves Funeral home in Tabor, Iowa, Thursday, June 26th, 1947 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. James W. Walker, minister of the Grace Methodist church of Glenwood, in charge. Interment was in Tabor cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mark Harrington, Lucius Perkins, Clarence Burwell, Will Gladwin, George Dunsdon and Charlie Kesterson. Flower bearers were nieces Mrs. Edith Bryant, Mrs. Wauneta Paxton, Mrs. Lucile Hurt and Mrs. Lorna Wilay (last name not legible.)
