The Death Angel crossed the threshold of the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Hopkinson, Thursday, March 13 and bore away the spirit of their little son, Emmett Furman, who had been a patient sufferer for several weeks. On January 27 he was taken ill and three days later an operation was performed. He did not improve as it was hoped and again on February 21 he submitted to an operation. At this time it was definitely discovered that he was afflicted with malignant tumors of the intestines, after which his case was consider hopeless. Emmett was born in Mineola, September 29, 1915 and died at the age of 8 years, 5 months and 13 days. He is mourned by his parents and four brothers, Clyde, Victor, Burnell and Duane and numerous other relatives and a host of friends and playmates.Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Glenwood at 10 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the pastor, Rev. G.T. Roberts. Music was furnished by Miss Janice Godsey, Mrs. George Masters, F.V. Kemp and S.M. Griswell with Mrs. F.V. Kemp at the piano. Pallbearers were Whitney Gillilland, Lawrence Bishop, Albert Woodruff and Fred Kelly, Jr. Interment was made in the Silver City cemetery.
