The funeral of Jay Hodges, whose death took place Dec. 24 at Council Bluffs, was held last Tuesday from the Methodist church at Malvern.

He was born July 25, 1838, near Detroit, Mich., and was a resident for many years in Mills County. He was married in 1869 to Harriet N. Phipps, who with five children survive him.
