Twyla Yeager Hascall, age 93, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Care Center. Twyla I. Yeager Hascall was born April 15, 1911 in Oakland, Iowa the daughter of George and Cora (Mellott) Hummel. She was raised in Oakland and graduated from Oakland High School.

Twyla was united in marriage to Chet Yeager on November 10, 1932 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. They lived in Oakland until 1947 when the moved to Emerson, Iowa. They farmed near Emerson until Chet passed away on October 1, 1961.

In January of 1962 Twyla moved to Red Oak. She was united in marriage to Gordon Hascall on May 20, 1971 in Storm Lake, Iowa. She worked at various jobs in Red Oak including the Greenhouse, the Stamp Redemption Center, the Bus Station, and the High School where she cooked.

She was a member of the Emerson Baptist Church, the Baptist M & A, a former member of the Order of Eastern Star in Emerson, and was Queen of the Iowa Flying Farmers. Gordon preceded her in death on October 28, 1989. Twyla moved to the Regency Retirement Residence in the early 1990’s when the facility was built and was now living at the Good Samaritan Care Center.

Twyla was preceded in death by her parents; both her husbands; three brothers, Howard, Lloyd and Charles Hummel; two sisters, Elma Killion and Mildred West; and grandson, Jim Docker.

Survivors include her daughter, Neva Slump and husband Delaine of Henderson, Iowa; sons, Norm Yeager and wife Lola, Wilbur Yeager and wife Lucy, and Keith Yeager and wife Jackie all of Red Oak, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, Merrill Slump and wife Judy of Henderson, IA, Darry Slump and wife Mary of Henderson, Iowa, Chet Slump and wife Kelly of Omaha, NE, Deb Deskin and husband Doug of Urbandale, IA, Mark Yeager of Lake City, IA, Lori Quinton and husband David of Dallas, OR, Michael Yeager of Houston, TX, Kerry Yeager and wife Donna of Red Oak, IA, Cheryl Yeager of Coin, IA, Kelly Docker of Red Oak, IA, Denise Mardesen and husband Ron of Elliott, IA, Chet Yeager and wife Melissa of Villisca, IA, Trent Yeager and wife Traci of Kasota, MN., and Courtney Duncan and husband Marcus of Gladstone, MO; 35 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; four step-sons, Edwin Hascall and wife Betty of Coin, IA, Kirk Hascall and wife Linda of Emerson, IA, Harold Hascall and wife Carol of Beatrice, NE, and Donald Hascall and wife Cheryl of Hooper, NE; three stepdaughters, Grace Lewellen and husband John of Ralston, NE, Carol Ray and husband Earl of Lenexa, Kansas, and Aileen Hascall of Glenwood, Iowa; many step-grandchildren; brother, Max Hummel of Griswold, IA; brother-in-law, Elmo “Hap” Yeager and wife Margaret of Warsaw, MO; and sister-in-law, Leona Hascall of Emerson, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roger Pickard officiating. Burial was in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family was held from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials go to the Emerson Baptist Church or the memorial of the donor’s choice.

Nelson-Bovlan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa was in charge of the arrangements.
