Gladys Glendalyn Roenfeldt, 86, of Mineola, died Dec. 11, 2004, at the Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 15, 11 a.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola. Pastor Stephany Sanborn will officiate the services. Burial will be at the Mineola Cemetery.

Mrs. Roenfeldt was the daughter of Claus F. and Rosa M. “Klahn” Husz, born Aug. 3, 1918, at her parent’s home near Treynor. She attended Zion Congregational Church in Treynor and graduated from Treynor High School in 1936. She married Floyd Louie Roenfeldt of Mineola on Nov. 25, 1936, at the Zion Congregational Church. They made their home on the Roenfeldt farm outside of Mineola and were blessed with three sons. Mrs. Roenfeldt enjoyed her role as a mother and farm wife. She cared for the home and prepared all of the meals for Mr. Roenfeldt and the other farm hands. Mr. and Mrs. Roenfeldt attended the St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola, where they were active members. Mrs. Roenfeldt served as secretary and treasurer for the American Lutheran Church Women and was the past stewardship co-chair, organizing quilt making for charities. She loved to quilt, and she and the other members of the A.L.C.W. made several each year for various projects. She also made many of her own quilts, including quilts for each of her grandchildren. In 1964, Mr. and Mrs. Roenfeldt moved from the farm to their new home in Mineola. They had been married 48 years when Mr. Roenfeldt died on March 13, 1985. Mrs. Roenfeldt continued to live in her Mineola home and remained active in the church and community. In October 2004, her health forced her to move to the Risen Son Christian Village.

Mrs. Roenfeldt was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son Floyd Roenfeldt Jr.; and brothers Orville Husz, Marvin Husz and Glen Husz. She is survived by sons Kenton Roenfeldt and wife Trisha of Mineola and Rodney Roenfeldt and wife Cindy of Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren Kenton Roenfeldt II and wife Jennifer and their sons Kolton and Kaden of Council Bluffs, Kirk Roenfeldt and wife Nannette and their children Alexia, Ahnika, Kaylie and Braden of Auburn, Wash., Kreg Roenfeldt of Rexburg, Idaho, Katherine Roenfeldt of Ames and Kimberly Smith and husband Tillman of Charleston, S.C.; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Memorials are suggested to the St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola. Hertz Funeral Home in Glenwood is in charge of arrangements.
