Edna Mildred (Clark) Hockabout, 86, of Glenwood died August 8, 2001 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs after a long illness.
Graveside services were August 11, 2001 at the Glenwood Cemetery with Pastor Gerald McKee officiating.
Mrs. Hockabout was the daughter of Lorenzo and Emily Clark, born February 13, 1915 in Council Bluffs. Soon after her birth her family moved to a farm in the Pony Creek area, where she also attended school. She married Everett Hockabout on February 25, 1932. They lived around the Pacific Junction area before moving to Hastings where they lived for several years. She worked at the Carbon Plant in Red Oak and worked hard raising her children. The summer of 1956 they moved to Glenwood. She worked at various jobs including the orchard, Glenwood State School and Glenwood Laundry. Her greatest joy came from her children and husband, and later her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, son, Donnie; sons-in-law, Don Skinner and Bernie Berg; granchildren, Lanny Skinner and Shari Ladd; brothers, August, Roy, Lawrence and Erwin.
Survivors include her daughters, Lorraine Berg of Grand Junction, Colo., Cathy Skinner of Huntsville, Ala., Kerin and husband Sonny Ladd of Greenfield; sons, Larry Hockabout his friend Sally Stogdill, Roger Hockabout and wife Mary Kay; Daughter-in-law, Judi Hockabout; sister, Thelma Hansen; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Hockabout, Lois Hockabout, Roberta Kuhl; brother-in-law, Johnnie Hockabout; all of Glenwood; 23 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild.
Hardiman-Raynor Funeral Home of Glenwood was in charge of arrangements.
