He enlisted in the Army Air Corp following graduation and faithfully served his country during WWII as a gunner on a B-17 bomber. Following his duty, he was honorably discharged in 1946. He returned to Glenwood, where he later met his wife, Betty. He saw her picture in the Opinion-Tribune as a new teacher to the Glenwood school system. To this union two children were born. Mr. Boles was employed as a carpenter for Leonard and Hugh Edwards for many years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Jaycees, Glenwood American Legion as past commander, Glenwood Athletic Association and Glenwood Volunteer Fire Dept., where he served faithfully for over 43 years, with the last seven years of his membership as chief. Gardening, attending auctions, collecting antiques, woodworking, traveling and being in the great outdoors were just a few points of interest in his life. He enjoyed watching the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, participate in sporting events and other activities throughout the years. He loved being with his family and friends and was always there to lend a helping hand to whomever was in need.
