DIED.--At the residence of her son-in-law, J. C. Garvin Esq., of Anderson township, June 21, 1884, Mrs. Gavin Thompson. Deceased was born in Lanarkshire, Scotland, Jan. 4, 1814, moved to Canada in 1844, and to the United States in 1860, locating with her husband and family in Mills county. She was an exemplary christian woman--a member of the Malvern Presbyterian church. Nine children--all grown, are left to mourn the loss of a model and cherished mother. The funeral occurred at Liberty church Sunday and was very largely attended. The services were conducted by Rev. S. L. McAfee and the remains were laid to rest beside those of her husband, who entered the dark bourne some eighteen months ago.
