He had become ill only the evening before. Walter was only 41 years old. He and his family had lived in Malvern for little more than a year, where they had purchased the movie picture theater and was conducting it.All of their previous life had been spent in Hastings and vicinity. Walter was the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. K. Mason, pioneer residents of Hastings and was held in high esteem by every one. His wife, Lela VanAusdale, a Hastings girl, and two children, Marlan and Water Van, survive him.
The death is the first in the family of Mr. and Mrs. L. K. Mason. Three sisters and a brother with parents survive. His body was brought to Hastings Sunday and taken to the home of his parents and from there funeral services will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Hastings Cemetery.
