The Malvern Leader
April 18, 1901David Musselman.
David T. Musselman was born in Perry county, Ohio, June 11, 1829. He learned the trade of wheelwright, with his father, who was a Master Mechanic. He located in Genoa, Ohio in 1849, where he engaged in business for himself. On July 2nd, he married Miss Emily Beckett, of Albemarle county, VA. In 1861, they came to Iowa locating at Osceola, Clark county and four years later came to Mills county locating near Hastings. In July 1878 his wife died, leaving seven children; William, Elizabeth, Charles, Addie, Bert, Myrtle M. and Rob Roy.
He was married to Mrs. Emma Stafford, daughter of J. A. and Elizabeth Davis, Jan. 27, 1881, who survives and mourns a departed husband. They came to Henderson in 1883 and have lived in the community since. He had been afflicted for some time, but through all seemed patient cheerful and hopeful. On Saturday morning there came a change and he gradually grew worse until Sunday morning when he passed away aged 71 years 10 months and 3 days. He has crossed the boundary line that we too must cross. We hope that we all with him may make a sure launching in the blessed eternity of God. The funeral services were held in the M. E. church at Henderson, Tuesday at 12 o'clock conducted by Rev. R. C. Chambers and interment took place at the Malvern cemetery at 3 p. m. Mr. Musselman was well known to many Mills county people, especially those of the older stock.
