At Home October 5
Well Known Malvern Resident
Passes Away After Extended Illness;
Funeral Sunday

Benjamin F. Bellwood, a pioneer citizen of Mills county and a long time resident of Malvern, passed away at his home in Malvern early Friday morning after an illness extending over several weeks. He had been in very poor health the past year or so, but it was only last few weeks that his condition was so serious.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p. m. in the First Methodist church in Malvern Sunday and were largely attended, for he was well and widely known. A large delegation from his old home neighborhood near Strahan were in attendance besides many from Glenwood, Omaha, Hastings, and other nearby places. Many beautiful flowers testified to the loving remembrance of friends and societies. Rev. Hicks conducts Services

On June 3, 1862 and passed away at this home in Malvern, Oct 5, 1928 at the age of 66 years, four months, and two days.
He was the oldest of a family of eight children. He came with his parents to Mills country when a small boy and has lived here since that time, the great part of his life. On June 29, 1890 at Strahan, Ia. He was united in marriage to Miss Abbie Criswell, and to this union two children were born, Albert W. and Ruth, both of Omaha, Nebr. He joined the Methodist church when a small boy and has been a member of the same throughout his entire lifetime. He leaves to mourn his loss his faithful wife, two children, three brothers and two sisters, beside a large number of very dear friends. Ben Bellwood was a man of more than ordinary ability and inspired the respect and confidence of all who knew him. He had decided conviction but was always fair and granted the other fellow the same right to his beliefs that he claimed He was a likeable man and few people knew him but were glad to claim his friendship. He lived a clean, honorable, upright life and was ever true to his friends , his country, and his convictions. He held a number of offices and positions of trust during his life to which he was ever faithful to the minutest part. He will be missed.
