Mrs. W. Scott Lewis is dead at Glenwood, Mills county, from the bite of a large rat. Mrs. Lewis had some newly hatched chicks in a barrel and it was while trying to capture the rat that was feasting upon the chicks she was bitten on the hand. Blood poison quickly followed and all efforts to check it ravages proved futile. Physicians regard rat bites to be more dangerous than most of the reptiles that people shun.
