C. E. Hillis Former Glenwood Pastor Dies

Charles E. Hillis, former pastor of the Glenwood Baptist church, died rather suddenly of heart trouble at his home in Kalona last Friday, Reverend and Mrs. Hillis were serving the church there and at Wellman. This was his second pastorate at this place, he having gone there shortly after leaving Glenwood and then was at Oelwein for a number of years being recalled by the churches at Kalona and Wellman. Reverend and Mrs. Hillis, who served the Glenwood Baptist church just prior to and during the early days of the world war made many lasting friendships here.

Reverend Hillis had been in failing health but his condition had not been considered critical and his death came as a severe shock to his family and friends. He is survived by his wife and their two adopted children. Funeral services were held in Kalona Monday.
