Engineer Passes. Was Charter

Annah E. Dean, the daughter of Duncan and Clarrisa Baxter, was born in Weyauwega, Wisconsin, June 11, 1856. She departed this life at the home of her son, Henry Dean on North Locust street in this city, Arpil 6, 1939, at the gage of 82 years, nine months and 25 days.

The family moved to Iowa, and arrived in Glenwood on June 11, 1875 on her 19th birthday. She was married to Seopth Dean on April 9, 1878 at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Baxter. One son was born to them, Henry H. Dean, who survives her. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Betty and Robert Dean and other friends. Her husband, a distiguished pioneer civil engineer, preceded her in death 12 years ago.

She was a lifelong member of the Baptist church of Glenwood, and an active member for many years. She was a charter member of the Eastern Star lodge of Glenwood.

Funeral services were conducted from the Myers Funeral home by her pastor, Rev. L. W. Verts at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Music for the service consisted of vocal selections by Mrs. William Lugsch and Mrs. Ralph McPherron, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Ernest Schade. The ladies in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Ralph Stacy, Mrs. L. W. Verts, Mrs. Geo. Masters, Mrs. W. S. Powers and Mrs. Joy Mickelwait. Those who served as pallbearers were Wm. Rodabaugh, Chas. Colbert, Geo. Masters, Bernard Rhoades, Ralph McPherron and Jay Stivers.

The body was laid to rest in the family lot in the Glenwood cemetery.
