Lois Elaine (Martin) Richter, age 71, of Silver City, passed away Oct. 11, 2006, after a short stay at Glen Haven Nursing Home in Glenwood, Iowa.

Lois was born Nov. 23, 1934, in Eagleville, Mo., to the late Garland and Edna (Johnson) Martin. Lois moved to rural Malvern, Iowa, with her family at the age of 4 and attended the rural Prairie Creek school and graduated from the Malvern High School. She received her teaching certificate at Maryville, Mo., and taught third grade at Shenandoah, Iowa. While going to school in Maryville she met Marvin Richter. They were married Dec. 24, 1954. To this union five children were born. Lois was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was also a long time 4-H leader.

Lois is survived by her husband, Marvin, of Silver City; four daughters, Carol and husband Greg Reeder, of Council Bluffs, Barbara and husband Tom Engleson, of Corvallis, Ore., Shari and husband John Gregory, of Glenwood, Linda and husband Tom Gomez, of Treynor; one son, Martin Richter and wife Jackie, of Mineola, Iowa; one sister, Phyllis and husband Paul Parkhurst, of Lenox, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation with the family, Sunday, 4 to 6 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral services, Monday, 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Silver City, Iowa with Pastor Mike Stevens officiating. Interment, Silver City Cemetery with a lunch following at the church. Memorials may be offered to the American Cancer Society or an organi- zation of your choice.
