The crew on Freight Train 77 running west found the body of a man lying beside the track just cast of Silver Creek bridge yesterday just before noon. They stopped and picked him up and brought him back to the depot. He was unconscious when found, but alive though badly hurt. Dr. Parsons was called and on examination found his left arm broken and many other bruises and injuries. He set the arm and bandaged the man up as well as possible.
From the marks on his clothing it was found that he was E. Welch and that he was in inmate of the Feeble Minded Institution of Glenwood. A telephone to Dr. Mogridge confirmed this and stated that he had been missing a short time. The station men at Balfour noticed the man going by that station yesterday morning headed east. It is not known just what train stuck him. It may have been No. 4 or possibly a train running earlier than that.
The unfortunate man was taken to Glenwood on the afternoon train where he will be cared for by the Institution authorities. Although badly hurt it is thought he will recover.
