E. P. Ayers, editor of the Marshalltown Herald, died by his own hand and act last Thursday. For a year he had been an invalid and his hope of ultimate recovery had faded out. A note left said “If I cannot be a help, I cannot be a burden.” Six years ago unother{sic} editor died in the same way.
