John White, aged 78, died Saturday afternoon at 3:20 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Anna Coppock, 406 North Fourth avenue, as the result of a complication of diseases, caused by old age. Mr. White was born in Ohio Dec. 31, 1827, and resided in that state until his early manhood. He was married to Miss Mary Castle in Pennsylvania, Dec. 27, 1846. Ten children were born to them, six of whom are living, and were present at his bedside when the end came. Aside from Mrs. Coppock the children are Mrs. Loretta Pyle, of Galva; Mrs. Sarah Powers, of Iowa Falls; Mr. John White, of State Center; Mrs. Emma Hollingshead and Mr. James P. White, of Schaller. Mr. White was a member of the United Brethren faith, having joined the church of his faith when a young man 31 years of age. The remains were taken to State Center this morning for interment, the funeral being held from the Methodist church this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mrs. John Carney, of State Center, a daughter of the deceased, died but a few weeks ago. All of the children accompanied the remains, as did also Mr. James Barkhurst, of this city.
