Gertrude Marie Branning Noring Brown died Oct. 11th at the State Center Manor at State Center, Iowa, where she had been a resident the past 2 1/2 years.

Gertie was born at Jamaica, Iowa Nov. 17, 1894 to Joseph and Marie Weistenburg Branning.

She was married to Maurice Melville Noring Jan. 20, 1971 To this union three boys and one daughter were born, Glenn Maurice who passed away March 9th, 1984, Verne Melville, Indianola, Iowa, Lucy Mae Geisler, Colo and Wm. Lee Pete) of Fresno, Ca.

They farmed near the Ames, Collins and Mingo area before retiring and moving to Ames. Maurice passed away Aug. 4, 1958.

Gertie and Myrl Brown were united in marriage Dec. 7, 1962 where they lived on a farm near Collins.

She was preceded in death, besides her first husband and son, by a grandson, her parents, her sister, Lena Callahan of Nevada, Harry Branning of Story City, Iowa.

After suffering several strokes she resided at the State Center Manor after the first of June, 1982.

She was a Past Noble Grand and a member of the Rhodes Rebekah Lodge, a member of the Order of Eastern Star and White Shrine of Ames, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary of Collins, and the Christian Church Disciples of Christ.

She leaves to mourn besides her husband and children, 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one step-daughter, a step grandson and two step grandchildren, as well as many relatives and friends. ~ The Jasper County Tribune, Colfax, IA. Thur 1 Nov 1984 Page 3.

Gertie died at 8:30 a.m. at State Center Manor where she had been a resident for 2-1/2 years. she moved there after suffering several stroke since the first of June, 1982.

She attended school at Rockford, IL.

She was a past noble grand and a member of the Rhodes Rebekah Lodge, a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the White Shrine of Ames, and past president of the Collins American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the Collins Christian Church.
