BOBBIE "BOB" TROUTNER
September 15, 1943 - January 31, 2016
Resided in Silverdale, WA

Bobbie "Bob" Troutner was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, on September 15, 1943, and passed away peacefully on January 31, 2016, surrounded by family and friends. Bob was raised in Marshalltown and followed his older brother (Don) into the Navy at age 17. He married Patricia "Pat" Noid in 1964, and raised their family while serving in Guam, Maryland, Hawaii and Washington, where the family settled. Bob retired as Command Master Chief at Treasure Island, San Francisco in 1988. Without straying from the closest Naval facilities, or a uniform, Bob served as a police officer on Sub Base Bangor/Jackson Park/Keyport from 1989-2004. After retiring altogether, he then devoted his remaining years volunteering and serving through programs such as the local prison ministry and "God's Kitchen" at Family of God. Everyone could feel comfortable around Bob. His hugs and smile reflected his genuine love and caring. By only seeing the good in people, never the bad, he lived his faith. He recited poetry without prompting, enjoyed time with family and friends, treasured visits to Hawaii, savored rum and cokes (and the occasional tropical drink), and studied scripture. He trusted in God throughout his illness, and without complaint, as he did his entire life. In the end, he left the world a better place, with friends and family who loved and respected him. Bob is survived by his wife, Pat; sons, Todd (Monica) and Brett (Toni); grandchildren, Kyler, Andrew and Connor; brother, Doug (Ileen); and sister-in-law Phyliss (Don); and all of his dearly loved nieces and nephews. Preceding Bob in death were his parents (Floyd and Maxine) and brothers (Floyd Jr. and Don). Designated memorials in Bob's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, to Living Stones Prison Congregation, or to Family of God Lutheran Church. A memorial service with Hawaiian luncheon following will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 13, at Family of God Lutheran Church (corner of Central Valley and Fairgrounds) in Bremerton – Aloha attire optional. The Stone Chapel Poulsbo Mortuary is serving the family.
