LEONARD GUY CARKHUFF

Leonard Guy Carkhuff, a native of this county, died Saturday morning at 6 o'clock at his home one-half mile east of St. Anthony. A week ago he suffered a heart attack and his death resulted from the second attack.

Leonard was born Sept. 15th, 1888 south of Marshalltown, son of William Leonard Carkhuff and Nellie (Priest) Carkhuff. He was a farmer living seven years in North Carolina and nine years in S.D., returning to this county 2 years ago.

Leonard married Daisy Vestal July 30th, 1913 in Albert Lea, Minn. They were the parents of three children, whom with his widow survive. They are Guy L. Carkhuff, a discharged veteran, who is at home, Mrs. E.R. Barker of Marshalltown and Mrs. A.R. Harding of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by two grandchildren, and one brother, Harley Carkhuff and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie (Landie) Gasson of Boone, and Mrs. Floyd Sparks of St. Anthony.

He was a member of the Baptist church in North Carolina.

Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Marshalltown, Iowa.
