SERVICES HELD

Bob Cowan, 88, of Gilman died Saturday, April 26, at Marshalltown Manor.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home in Marshalltown, with the Rev. Jerry Cassiday officiating. Graveside rites were conducted at 4:30 p.m. at the Garden Grove Cemetery.

The son of William R. and Anna Winders Cowan, he was born on Feb. 7, 1898, in What Cheer. He was married to Daisy L. Metz on March 29, 1924, in Des Moines.

Mr. Cowan was a coal miner for 30 years and later worked for the Cessford Construction Co. He was a member of the Gilman United Methodist Church, the Gilman Lions Club and the Gilman Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife. He was preceded in death by four brothers.
