Shannon Faye Potts Des Moines formerly of Grinnell.

Shannon Faye Potts, died on July 23, 2011 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. Cremation rites will follow her service. Private burial of her cremains will be at McDivitt Grove Cemetery in Urbandale.

Shannon was born in Des Moines and had lived most of her life in Grinnell. She was a 2008 graduate of Grinnell High School and attended Marshalltown Community College. Shannon worked at Applebee's Restaurant on Merle Hay Road. She was a voracious reader, especially Harry Potter novels, enjoyed dance, loved music and going to concerts and spending time with her family and friends.

She will be missed by her parents, Tim Potts and Kathy and Doug Winger; sisters, Katie (Nick) Franceschis, Amanda Potts and Aimee Winger; brothers, Colin Potts and Douglas Winger; grandparents, Ray Potts, George and Marie Long and Ed and Connie Winger as well as many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Maxine Barger.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel.In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Variety Club of Iowa. ~ The Des Moines Register Legacy, Des Moines, Iowa. Wed 27 Jul 2011.
