Pamela Klopping West

Pamela Klopping West, 78 of Lihue, Hawaii, passed away May 8, 2008 in Hawaii. Graveside services will be held Monday, July 7 (Pam's birthday) at 11:00 a.m. at Union Chapel Cemetery near Ira. The famly will be present at that time.

Born July 7, 1929 on a farm in Jasper County, the daughterof Louise and Velma Cross Klopping. Her youth was spent in rural Jasper and Marshall counties. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1947. That same year in September, she wed William G. West of Baxter. They lived in rural Baxter until 1960 when they and their 2 daughters and one son moved to Minneapolis, MN. When the children were grown she and William divorced. Following her adventurous nature, in 1990 she moved to Hawaii to spend the rest of her life. Pam was an avid reader and a creative writer. She co-authored an extensive family history of the Cross/Castor and related families. While in Baxter she was a girl Scout troop leader, active in Women's Club, Drama Club, Community Chest and the Bethel Missionary Society.

Survivors include her children, Kathleen (Mike) Anderson, Barbara (Greg) Johnson and William (Doreen) West, 8 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren (All of Minnesota).

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Barbara Klopping Kent. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Des Moines (IA) Register or The Newton (IA) Daily News, Thurs 3 June 2008
