FARMINGTON
Michael M. Saxton

Michael M. Saxton, 51, of Farmington, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2007, in Farmington surrounded by those who loved and cherished him, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Michael loved his wife and children, which is the reason he always fought for one more day. He felt blessed to have lived long enough to walk his daughter, Angela, down the aisle on her wedding day and then to be with his daughter, Crystal, when she gave birth to his first grandchild. When these things were completed he felt able to give in gracefully to his illness. Michael had the ability to love unconditionally and compassionately. He was his family's greatest cheerleader and the purpose behind their successes. One cannot think of Michael without smiling. Michael will always be remembered for being devoted to his pets, being a buddy to his friends with special needs, for his love for playing softball and coaching girls Little League, teaching his daughters to dance or learn the words to his favorite songs so they could sing and dance together, to just being a comedian and enjoying life. Michael was also a member of the Farmington Elks Lodge No. 1747, where he always looked forward to the camaraderie of his fellow Elks. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Arthur L. Saxton. He is survived by his wife, Cathy; daughter, Angela Waltner and her husband, Joe; daughter, Crystal Saxton and her fiance, Danny Avey; grandson, Ranger Avey; mother, Betty Lutes; sister, Denise Hempen; sister-in-law, Betty Emig, and her husband, Phil; sister-in-law, Peggy Salcido and her husband, David; sister-in-law, JoAnn Aacen; his best friend and brother-in-law, Thomas Higdon and his wife, Natalie; and his great friend, confidant, and niece, Ginger Armenta. Michael is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles whom he loved very much. Pallbearers are Danny Avey, Joe Waltner, Jerry Urich, Mick Cockel, Thomas Higdon and Matthew Armenta. Honorary pallbearers are Phil Emig, Joshua Hempen, J. T. Higdon, Ray Armenta and William Manchester. Words will never express the sadness Michael's passing has left for us. He will be forever missed, but never forgotten. He will live forever in our hearts and in the wonderful memories he left for us. Visitation for Michael will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2007, at Brewer, Lee & Larkin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at Brewer, Lee & Larkin Chapel, with the Rev. Joan Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Michael is in the care of Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute Street in Farmington, (505) 325-8688.
