Adaline Whitehill

MARSHALLTOWN - Adaline Whitehill, 96, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday, jan. 23, 1996, at Grandview Heights Care Center in Marshalltown. She was the mother of Joan Stover of Fairfield.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Bruce Flickinger officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to St. Paul Episcopal Church.

Mrs. Whitehill was born Sept. 1, 1899, at Grinnell, the daughter of George F. and Veva H. Maxwell Thayer. She was raised and educated in Marshalltown, graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1919, attended Grinnell College and the University of Wisconsin. On Sept. 1, 1923, she married W.N. Whitehill in Marshalltown. He died in 1990. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church and a number of clubs and organizations.

In addition to her daughter, she is survived by a son, nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A son and a brother preceded her in death.
