Word has been received in Farmington of the death of Carrol Edlon (sic: Eldon) Tharp, 70, of Gilman on Saturday morning at a Grinnell hospital. The funeral services was held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Gilman United Methodist Church.

Mr. Tharp was a former superintendent of the Farmington schools and the Harmony Community Schools. He had also been in school administration in the Iowa towns of Pleasant Plain, Richland, Schaller, Pekin, Pella and Gilman. He retired in 1975.

Survivors included are his wife, a son and a daughter.
